Welcome to my blog. I learn so much from others who share with me their thinking, opinions, experiences, photos, music, pains, happiness, and so much more. In turn, I like sharing too and especially enjoy engaging and thoughtful dialogue. So don't be afraid to tell me what you think. If you want to know more about me and my work, I hope you will read a few of my posts and visit corestrategies.ca.

Like I said, today in politics what used to happen over the course of weeks, even months, can change in minutes. Maybe even seconds!

The second Premier Gary Doer announced Manitobans will be going to the polls on May 22, my prediction for an early spring federal election evaporated.

Per the "time factor" referred to in my April 16 post, the Manitoba election represents just the time factor Stéphane Dion needs. Tonight, Mr. Dion has got to be the happiest of the federal leaders followed by environment minister, Elizabeth May.

Mr. Layton, on the other hand, can't be happy. I am quite certain the events of the past week swirling around the Dion/May union had Mr. Layton anxious for an election.

Suddenly everyone -- and I mean everyone -- has to rethink things. Mr. Harper in particular can't be very happy, or is he? Did he peak too early, or does this let him ram through yet another watered-down environment plan the opposition now can't easily vote down because there's simply no room in the schedule to force an election. Unless, of course, someone thinks an election can happen on the heals of Manitoba, or in the summer before Ontario is set to go in October?

Is this the time factor the Left needs to get it's ducks in a row? Will Mr. Layton now answer the phone, or is he already too far down the road believing in his own resurrection?

Suddenly too, Elizabeth May has the time she badly needed to work Central Nova. Mr. MacKay may finally be starting to sweat, at least a little. Especially if we have another scorcher of a summer.

Gilles Duceppes may have the toughest decision of all to make. A delayed federal election may indeed give the wayward BQ Leader a reason and the time he needs to properly take control of the PQ.

Who said nothing of interest is ever announced late on a Friday!

Right date wrong election; Manitoba changes everything
