Welcome to my blog. I learn so much from others who share with me their thinking, opinions, experiences, photos, music, pains, happiness, and so much more. In turn, I like sharing too and especially enjoy engaging and thoughtful dialogue. So don't be afraid to tell me what you think. If you want to know more about me and my work, I hope you will read a few of my posts and visit corestrategies.ca.
I remember a time when voters defined themselves in polls and at the ballot box as either Left or Right. Today, it's not so clear, let alone the choices offered. Even the center is pretty fuzzy on certain issues. Or is it?
That's where the volatility comes from, not from indecisiveness but rather from which day you happen to catch the voter, what they had for breakfast, differences in polling methodologies, and a media influence the likes of which we've never seen before, especially that of the digital democratic variety.
The pundits will, and are, having a tough time with this one. We've already observed this before any official announcement. Even the "pros" aren't quite sure what to make of it at first. The detractors will, I am certain of this, be out in full force the next day, two, or more. And there are some problems with the strategy, no doubt.
But I'd like to focus, if I may, on one issue only. The planet.
On that single issue the choice appears to be between two people who truly see eye-to-eye, ear-to-ear, and mouth-to-mouth, versus two people who don't, except as convenient props for each other until the time comes to pretend they never did.
Probably not the politically correct time be quoting Don Imus, but who's the figurative namesake to a triangular shaped gardening tool, and who genuinely cares what this place looks like for my kids in a few years?
Is the gesture genuine and heartfelt, and is it politically survivable? Volatile spin to a volatile audience will decide.
